Cornelius Kemboi is a part of the newest generation of promising runners. His training takes place on local roads outside of town. He began running at the age of 10, when he rather than eating at the public school, would run two kilometers each way to eat his mother\u2019s food at home. Photo: Tobias Kobborg Kristensen <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong><br>\n<\/strong>STILL PICTURE STORY <strong><br>\n<\/strong>by <a href=\"http:\/\/tobiaskobborg.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tobias Kobborg Kristensen<\/a> &#8211; made in the fall 2018 during his third term at DMJX.<\/p>\n<p>18-year-old Cornelius Kemboi attends Saints Patrick\u2019s High School in Iten, following in the footsteps of star runners like David Rudisha and Wilson Kipketer. Cornelius dreams of becoming a champion and raise the Kenyan flag, but first step is to get a scholarship to train and study in the United States.<br>\nSaint Patrick\u2019s High School is well-known for its countless number of former students, who later achieved great international results in mid- and long-distance running. Kenyans are very often seen in the top-results of international running competitions, where especially runners from the Kalenjin tribe are represented. This has made the area extremely interesting for international companies, who sign young athletes and give them a chance to live a life they would otherwise only dream of.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2807\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2807\" style=\"width: 683px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2807 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/photo.dmjx.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/NoOneCould_12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2807\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>18-year-old Cornelius Kemboi. I only get a small plate of food and it cannot sustain my body,\u201d says Cornelius. His breakfast at school consists of four pieces of white bread and a cup of tea.
