The first out of the four workshops is currently happening at Photopia in Cairo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1701\" height=\"957\" src=\"https:\/\/photo.dmjx.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Photopia-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3319\"\/><figcaption><em>S\u00f8ren Pagter started the first of a series of four workshops at Photopia this Tuesday the 10th of September. The first workshop will last five days. Photo: Photopia.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>S\u00f8ren Pagter is conducting the first workshop in Cairo this week. Mads Greve will run a portrait workshop in November 2019 and Gitte Luk will run a worksshop in journalistic writing in January 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After these first three workshops the participants will work on their individual stories and in June 2020, S\u00f8ren Pagter will return to edit the work together with the photographers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1559\" height=\"1039\" src=\"https:\/\/photo.dmjx.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Photopia-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3320\"\/><figcaption><em>On the second day, the participants did an editing exercise, where they, in small groups<\/em>,<em> edited a story by Tobias Kobborg. After this the participants were sent out to do a short assignment, which will be edited the following day. Finally, the participants will start discussing their ideas for their projects.<br>Photo: Sabry Mohamed.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>During his visit in Cairo, S\u00f8ren Pagter also met with Ronnie Close from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aucegypt.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"American University in Cairo (opens in a new tab)\">American University in Cairo<\/a> (AUC) to plan a DMJX exhibition at AUC this November. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition will consist of stories from the two recent magazines &#8211; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Avalanche (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/photo.dmjx.dk\/index.php\/2018\/11\/23\/avalanche\/\" target=\"_blank\">Avalanche<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Nest (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/photo.dmjx.dk\/index.php\/2019\/05\/03\/nest\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nest<\/a> &#8211; made by our international Photo I students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In co-operation with Photopia and with financial support from DEDI, the Danish Egyptian Dialogue Initiative, DMJX photojournalism has organized an educational programme for 12 Egyptian photographers.
