After the revolution, he pursued an architecture career. Meanwhile he teachs ballet to the new generation of dancers in Iran.<br>From the series May I Have This Dance? by Shirin Abedi.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>May I Have This Dance? is the story about Nona (18), Mojdeh (21), Reyhaneh (22) and Yasamin (22), who belong to the same ballet group in Tehran. They are part of the Iranian post-war generation, which stands up for self-determination, freedom and  equality. The dancers  show a peaceful resistance to a patriarchal and fundamental society. By this, they represent a whole generation, who reclaims their desired future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first Global Peace Photo Award was handed out in 2014 and this year, they received a record high number of 19,711 pictures. 27 projects have been shortlisted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shirin started the story as her final Photo Story during her Photo 1 study at DMJX in the spring 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1559\" height=\"1039\" src=\"https:\/\/photo.dmjx.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/HS6A7996-12.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3935\"\/><figcaption><em>Yasamin (22) reconciled with her boyfriend and they are at the artificial \u201eLake of the Martyrs of the Persian Gulf\u201d in Tehran. Almost a decade ago, reationships between unmarried women and men were a taboo among the majority of Iranians. Back then, couples could be arrested by the morality police for their relationship.
