{"id":5947,"date":"2023-06-04T19:44:53","date_gmt":"2023-06-04T17:44:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/photo.dmjx.dk\/?p=5947"},"modified":"2023-06-04T19:44:53","modified_gmt":"2023-06-04T17:44:53","slug":"two-dmjx-projects-shortlisted-for-the-cap-prize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/photo.dmjx.dk\/index.php\/2023\/06\/04\/two-dmjx-projects-shortlisted-for-the-cap-prize\/","title":{"rendered":"Two DMJX projects shortlisted for the CAP Prize"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.capprize.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Contemporary African Photography Prize<\/a> has announced the 25 projects shortlisted for the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.capprize.com\/landing\/shortlist2023\" target=\"_blank\">CAP Prize 2023<\/a>. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lameessaleh.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lamees Saleh<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/mohammedmahdy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mohamed Mahdy<\/a> are among the shortlisted photographers with their final DMJX projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" src=\"https:\/\/photo.dmjx.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Lamees_cap.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5948\"\/><figcaption><em>Hala was kidnapped in 2016. In the picture to the left it&#8217;s her sisters, Heba, who is only one year younger than Hala, and Sarah, the oldest sister in Saft El Laban, Giza. In the picture to the right, it&#8217;s one of Hala&#8217;s dresses hanging outside the family&#8217;s home.<br>Lamees Saleh is nominated for the CAP Prize with her project &#8220;Indefinitely&#8221;, that documents the lives of the families of kidnapped children through a map. The map\u2019s starting point is forty years ago, with a family still searching for their daughter, leading to other families&#8217; stories following the 2011 revolution and including various reasons for abduction.<\/em><br><em>Lamees Saleh started the story as her final project during our <a href=\"https:\/\/photo.dmjx.dk\/index.php\/2022\/06\/24\/cairo-program-concluded-with-succesfull-exhibition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DEDI\/DMJX educational programme<\/a> in Cairo 2021\/22. Al-Max was called the Middle East&#8217;s Venice because it had the same vibes and beauty as Venice, Italy.\u00a0One day the residents woke up to the news that they had to leave their houses, their history, and possibly their lives as fishers. Now, One-third of the village is gone, and they are like fish in the sea, with nowhere and anywhere to go but no place they can call home. <br>In \u201cThe Doors Don\u2019t Know Me\u201d, Mohamed Mahdy has combined his own photographs with handwritten letters and private archival material from displaced local residents.\u00a0Mohamed Mahdy made the story about Tamer as his final Diploma Project at DMJX and added the story to the project.
