Measured in terms of the country’s population, Denmark was one of the most important regions for witch hunts. Driven by the mostly negative image of the witch as an unmarried, childless, old woman, Amelie Sachs set out to find contemporary perspectives on the subject of witchcraft during her stay abroad in Denmark. An everyday world opened up in which women express their connection to nature and feminist ideals and reclaim the concept of the witch for themselves and see it as an act of self-empowerment.
