In the last week of August 2026, Gitte luk conducted the workshop ‘Writing for Photojournalists’ as the third in a series of four DMJX workshops in Cairo made in co-operation with our partner\u00a0Photopia Cairo<\/a>\u00a0and supported by the\u00a0Embassy of Denmark in Cairo<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the DMJX educational programme is to educate 12 selected Egyptian photographers in the language of photojournalism. The programme consists of a series of four workshops and conclude with an exhibition and a publication showing the participants\u2019 final projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants will receive teaching and work on individual assignments during the workshops. Each participant will do a major project in the period in between the third and fourth workshop. The participants will receive individual coaching while they work on the final major project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the fourth and final workshop, all stories will be published in a mutual magazine. The magazine will be posted online on DMJX Photojournalism\u2019s webpage, and images from the stories and the spreads of the magazine will be exhibited in Cairo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May, Mads Greve conducted the first workshop<\/a> focussing on Portraiture. In June, S\u00f8ren Pagter taught the second workshop<\/a>, Photojournalist Method. The fourth online workshop will have both Gitte Luk and S\u00f8ren Pagter as instructors. During this fourth workshop, the students will do the final editing of the stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final exhibition has been postponed and will take place at Photopia, January 14, 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
