As is has become a tradition, all DMJX photojournalism students gather at the start of the term for welcome lectures. This autumn 2024 term, former DMJX-students Lasse Bak Mejlvang and Betina Garcia came back to the school to give talks.

In the first part he talked about his assignments, both editorial and commercial. In the second part he dived into his very personal project where he documented his own family during his wife’s fight against breast cancer. She showed and talked about her prize winning project Rancheros, which she started during her exchange study at Western Kentucky University in 2015. In the second part of her lecture, Betina talked about how she balances her assignments with the continuation of her long term project.
