As is has become a tradition, all DMJX photojournalism students gather at the start of the term for welcome lectures. This autumn 2024 term, former DMJX-students Lasse Bak Mejlvang and Betina Garcia came back to the school to give talks.

Betina Garcia, who graduated from DMJX in the spring 2016, started her lecture by telling about her personal background and her time as a student at DMJX. She showed and talked about her prize winning project Rancheros, which she started during her exchange study at Western Kentucky University in 2015.
