Mohammad Jaafer and Mikkel Hørlyck exhibit at Fotografisk Center

Mohammad Jaafer and Mikkel Hørlyck are right now showing the exhibition Turmoil of Midst at the Breaking Platform at Fotografisk Center in Copenhagen. The exhibition opened Thursday, September 12 and will run till December 15, 2024.

Mohammad Jaafer’s exhibition at Fotografisk Center shows his personal story “We May be Apart” about being separated from his family due to the current civil war in his home country, Sudan. The on-going project started during his study at DMJX in 2023 and 2024. Mohammad Jaafer came to Denmark on a ECCA Family Foundation scholarship to study at DMJX. Mohammad Jaafer is currently living in The Netherlands where he is aplaying for asylum. Therefore he had to follow the exhibition opening and listen to the opening speeches online.

Mikkel Hørlyck exhibits images from three of his stories: “No Man’s Land” (Bosnia), “The Mercilessness Of The Sea” (The Mediterranean Sea) and “Hell’s Mouth” (Ukraine). “No Man’s Land” tells about the refugees and migrants, who try to enter Europe from Bosnia into Croatia. Mikkel Hørlyck made the story as his BA-project in 2021 and won the ECCA-DMJX Photojournalism Award to continue his work about refugees.
