“Home in the Heather” has been named one of two finalists in the Daily Life Video Documentary Category at the 82nd POYi – Picture of the Year international. It is the first time ever, a DMJX video documentary wins at the prestigious competition.
The two DMJX students and their documentary were in good company, since the other finalist was “Palestinians in the West Bank Are Living in the Shadow of the War in Gaza” made by The New York Times. The winning story was “Cookie & Zo’e” made by ProPublica.

Rhiannon Johnston and Katja Hasenöhrl made the story during a DMJX video documentary workshop conducted by teacher Tobias Stidsen at Photo 1 in the fall 2024.
