The Lumix Festival has announced the list with the 60 selected photographers who will exhibit at the festival this June in Hannover. On the list there’s four students from DSMJ:
– Lene Münch, who was an international student in the year 2009, is represented with her diploma project from this year:”The Secret World of Fraternities”. The project gives an exclusive insight in German fraternities through reportage and portraits. All shot in medium format.
– Carsten Bundgaard, who graduated this January, is represented with his final BA-project, “Midas Touch”. This story is about the hunt for gold on the Indonesian island Sulawesi. It shows how this has severe effects on the human beings and their environment. Carsten Bundgaard won the Scanpix prize for best BA-project for this story.
– Nikolai Linares, who is right now doing his internship at Berlingske Tidende, is represented with his third term project “The Road To Defeat”. This story was made during a reportage workshop last year at DSMJ.
– Kristian Djurhuus, who graduated in 2009 and is now a staff photographer at MetroXpress, is represented with the story “People of the Park”. A part of this story won first prize at the Danish POY in the Open Category.
Further three Danish photographers, all former students from DSMJ, have been selected to exhibit at the Lumix Festival:
– Thomas Lekfeldt – with the prize winning story: “A Star in the Sky”. Thomas Lekfeldt recently won the Global Vision Award at POYi for this story. Thomas Lekfeldt was also represented at the Lumix Festival two years ago.
– Mads Nissen – with his prize winning story “Fever, Gold Fever”. Mads Nissen won several prizes at the Danish POY, also for this story. Mads Nissen is right now conducting a reportage workshop for our third term students.
– Martin Stampe – with the story “The Lobstermens Apprentice”. Martin Stampe was also represented at the Lumix Festival two years ago.
From the 60 stories a jury will select the winner of the Freelens Award. The Head of the Photojournalism department, Søren Pagter, is a part of the jury. The winner will be announced at the Lumix Festival, 16th to 20th of June in Hannover.
