Can you make an exhibition with around 13,000 portraits? Yes, you can. Every evening 13,000 unique children portraits are projected on the Red Fall monument in Randers. Head of the dep. of photojournalism, Søren Pagter, is one of the makers of the project – Børn i centrum (kids in focus).

The whole idea is to create an exhibition that show ALL the kids of the town of Randers. The selection of children portraits should make people think about the children as individuals – our future. The project is a part of a huge theater festival and of Randers as UNICEF town of 2011.
Each kid in town has an individual code. He or she can send a text message with the code and then the kid’s portrait will appear on the monument in the center of the town.
Five local portrait photographers and five assistents have toured around at schools, institutions etc to make the portraits. Same light, same lens. One picture of each child.
All 13,000 pictures have been published in the local paper over a period of 36 days. Parents can order a print of their child. The payment will go to UNICEF.
