Wet plate welcome for all photojournalists

Today, all DMJX photojournalists from all semesters gathered for a mutual welcome starting the spring semester.

For the gathering, photojournalist Emil Ryge gave a lecture showing his BA project “Lorteøen” from 2010 – a project he has continued working on since his graduation. He also showed new work made with the more than one hundred years old wet plate technique.

Emil Ryge demostrated the wet plate technique using his large format camera and a mobile darkroom. The exposure time was 7 seconds – and it took approximently 20 minutes to shoot and develop one portrait.
