Camille Lepage killed in CAR today

Our future student, the French freelance photojournalist, Camille Lepage, was tragically killed in the Central African Republic today – only 26 years old.

I came to know Camille a few years back, when she studied journalism at DMJX. Camille was a wonderful, smiling and dedicated student. During her study at the DMJX’s international journalism programme she became interested in photojournalism.

Later, she applied for our international photojournalism programme without being accepted. But she continued to develop her skills and stayed in contact with me. I had the pleasure of meeting her again a couple of times and helped her with her port folios.

Camille was a brave photojournalist who felt strongly for the people in her stories – she moved the people she met and leaved a mark whereever she came.

This year, Camille was accepted for our international photo 2 programme and she was going to study at DMJX again this autumn. We’re going to miss her.

My thoughts are with Camille’s family and friends. Her death is impossible to understand.
