Back in 1999 Casper Dalhoff graduated his BA with his project “The Dark Side” – a reportage story from the mental institution “Sølund” in Denmark. The project was quite unique at that time, since most other students decided to work abroad for their BA-projects. Casper satyed in Denmark and worked on a story very close to his home.

Casper Dalhoff contiuned to work on the stories from Sølund and in 2003 he won first prizes at both World Press Photo and NPPA with both old and new pictures. The year after, 2004, he was selected for the WPP Masterclass.

Last year, Casper started to work on the project again and last month he won the Community Awareness Award at POYi – again with a selection of old plus new pictures.

Casper Dalhoff is working as a staff photographer at the Danish daily Jyllands-Posten and has been teaching at DMJX several times in the past years. He continues to work at Søund and is planning to publish a book with his stories from there.
