Normally, we do not write about private and “gossip” stuff at this website. But, when the story includes a Visual Project and a DMJX-students gathering, we make an exception to the rule.
DMJX-students gathered in Egypt.
Ever since Roger Anis began studying at DMJX in the fall 2014, he told about the difficulties in getting married in Egypt. “Marriage in Egypt is such a very complicated process to do, in a conservative society where you can’t make your own decisions, so that in a lot of situations you make your decisions based on other people’s needs,” Roger said.
Roger visualized these difficulties in his visual project in the spring 2015. The visual project “A Blessed Marriage” is a self-portrait series of Roger and Karoline, then his fiancé, dressed as bride and groom. Roger sought to show some of the challenges and hardships that many couples in Egypt have to face before and when they choose to marry.

Last week Roger Anis’s visual project became a reality when he and Karoline married on the 14th of May in Cairo. Some of the pictures from the visual project even became a part of the printed program for the wedding.
Some of Roger Anis’ pre-wedding pictures made for his Visual Project – now used for Karoline and his real wedding.
Karoline and Roger had invited Roger’s student colleagues from DMJX for the wedding. And many of them came – from USA, Italy, Germany and Egypt.
As Barbara Leolini wrote to me: “DMJX is not just a place where you go to study, it is a place where you build a family. That’s what Roger and Karoline told us – that we were all part of the family – and so we came from across the world to share their big moment. It touched me and of course it made me cry. We were so happy to be there for their epic, breath-taking wedding, and so grateful to the place in Denmark that brought us all together and made all of this possible.”

Congratulations from DMJX to Roger and Karoline for this wonderful story. We wish you all the best in the future.
