Cecile Smetana Baudier‘s final BA-project “Diaspora” is among the 11 finalists at the International Women Photographers Award (IWPA).
In 2015, the Afro-Mexican community were finally recognized by the Mexican government, but in the small villages of Costa Chica, Oaxaca, people are still struggling to regain their identity. Photo by Cecile Smetana Baudier.
“Diaspora” is the story about the Afro-American communmity Costa Chica in Mexico. Cecile graduated her BA in 2016 with “Diaspora”.
Cecile has been selected among 784 applications from 84 different countries. The 11 selected IWPA-stories will tour around the world and be exhibited the following places:
