Amelie Sachs has won The Dummy Award 2023

Amelie Sachs‘ book project Vergissmeinnicht is among the five winners of The Dummy Award 2023. The personal project started and the first dummy was made during Amelie’s study at DMJX in the spring 2021.

Cover of Amelie Sachs’ book Vergissmeinnicht. Vergissmeinnicht deals with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a menstrual disorder that affects up to 15% of women of childbearing age. Amelie herself suffered from this condition for ten years.

Amelie Sachs studied at Photo 2 in the spring 2021 and here she started the project Vergissmeinnicht as her personal, visual project.

383 book dummies from 46 were submitted for The Dummy Award 2023. Out of the 383 books, 50 were shortlisted and finally 5 winning titles were carefully selected, taking into account public and curators’ votes from the 17 venues the shortlist has been exhibited at. 

All winning books will receive a 25% production grant for printing their books at MAS printing house, Istanbul and promotion support. 

The Dummy Award, formerly known as the Kassel Dummy Award, is an international competition for the best unpublished photobook dummies of the year. Starting 2023 the PhotoBookMuseum, Cologne together with its sponsor and partner MAS Matbaa; Istanbul has taken over the award.
