Florine Schmid and Marie Ruwet, who won the ECCA – DMJX Photojournalism Award in 2024, are currently exhibiting their project Staying or Leaving Home at Aarhus Public Library – Dokk1.

Florine Schmid and Marie Ruwet travelled together to Saqqaq, a remote settlement in northwestern Greenland, that is shaped by change. Through a hybrid methodology that combines journalistic and artistic approaches, they tell the story of two young adults facing the universal dilemma of whether to stay or leave their home community.
The exhibition explores questions of resilience, belonging, and dreams for the future.
In 2024 Florine Schmid and Marie Ruwet received the ECCA – DMJX Photojournalism Award to continue their story With Nature On Our Side from Iceland and to go to Greenland to do this new project that is now being exhibited in Aarhus.
The two photographers graduated Photo 1 in June 2024.
