Each year the World Photography Organisation invites 230 photography schools from all over the world to participate in their Student Focus Competition. Each of the 230 schools submits one picture made by one of their students. This year Tor Birk Trads participated on behalf of DMJX with his portrait of Jens. The portrait is a part of a series of portraits of kids with special needs. The topic of this year’s submissions was “Tomorrow’s News”.
This morning, the jury announced the ten winning students and Tor Birk Trads was one of them. It’s the fourth time a DMJX student is selected for the Student Focus Award.
As one of the ten finalist for the Student Focus Award Tor Birk Trads wins a Sony a7 camera with which he’s going to fulfill the next step of the competition: All ten finalist must within the next couple of weeks make a series of images – the topic is “self-portraits”.
The jury will select one winner among the submissions from the ten finalists. The winner wil be announced at the award ceremony on the 30th of April in London. The winning school will receive Sony equipment of a value of 35,000 EUR to be used at the winning school.
The submissions from all ten finalist will be exhibited at the Somerset House from the 1st till the 18th of May – together with all the other winners of Sony World Photography Awards.
Being a finalist, Tor Brik Trads and tutor Mads Greve are invited to particpate in the award ceremony and the award days in London.
