Salih Basheer has won the Photo-Text Book Award at Les Rencontres de la photographie, Arles 2023

At the ceremony at Théâtre Antique, Wednesday July 5, DMJX alumni Salih Basheer was announced the winner of the Photo-Text Book Award at Rencontres Arles photo festival that is happening right now in the south of France.

Salih Basheer has studied and graduated Photo I in the fall 2020 and Photo II in the spring 2021. The pirze winnine book “22 Days in Between” has been made during and straight after Salih Basheer’s Photo II study. His study at DMJX was made possible through two scholarships from the VII Foundation.

“22 Days in Between” is a narrative journey looking back at the loss of Salih Basheer’s parents and the challenges of settling into a new home with his grandmother.

The book is edited by Salih Basheer and Søren Pagter. The design of the book is made by Salih Basheer, Lars Bai and Søren Pagter. The texts are written by Salih himself and has been edited by Gitte Luk and Adham Selim. Disko Bay has published “22 Days in Between”.
