Two DMJX alumni selected as Magnum Heat Fellows

The Magnum Foundation has announced the nine participants in the 2023-2024 Photography Expanded Fellowship focused on the topic of heat and climate crisis. Among the nine are DMJX alumni Farhana Satu and Hashem Shakeri.

Hashem Shakeri has been selected for Magnum Foundation’s 2023-2024 Photography Expanded Fellowship focussing on the global heat and climate crisis. Hashem has been selected based on his project “An Elegy for the Death of Hamun” that he made as his final project during his study at DMJX in the spring 2018. Farhana Satu from Bangladesh has been selected based on her project Water/Life. Farhana studied at and graduated Photo 1 in the spring 2020. The project is not made during her DMJX study.

Hashem Shakeri from Iran has been selected based on his project An Elegy for the Death of Hamun, that was his final project during his study at Photo 1 in 2018.

Nine photographers have been selected for the fellowship programme that consists of a $10,000 grant for each, two workshops and networking with collaborative partners.
