Mikkel Hørlyck exhibits at Refshaleøen

This week, Mikkel Hørlyck will exhibit in the containers of Copenhagen Photo Festival at Refshaleøen. The exhibition, “Human Destinies on the Edge”, is open October, 15 and 16 between 15:00 – 18:00 and again October, 20 from 12:00 to 16:00.

Mikkel Hørlyck’s current exhibition “Human Destinies on the Edge” is a selection of images from his projects “The Neglected”, “Jørgen, a Mystery”, “No Man’s Land”, “Anorexia Nervosa”, “A Warrior”, “Red Code”, “Hell’s Mouth”, “Building The Future,” “For Ceasefire” and “The Mercilesness Of The Sea”. Many of the exhibited stories have been made during Mikkel Hørlyck’s study at DMJX, for example “The Neglected”, which is shown in this image.

Mikkel Hørlyck started the story “Jørgen, a Mystery” (images on the left) during his second term at DMJX and continued to meet and photograph Jørgen for six years until he passed away in 2021. Photo from the exhibition: Mikkel Hørlyck.
The exhibition opened October 11, 2024 as part of the Culture Night in Copenhagen.

Mikkel Hørlyck graduated from DMJX in 2021 with the story “No Man’s Land” and based on this project he won the ECCA-DMJX Photojournalism Award to continue his work about refugees. The award made it possible for him to do the the story “The Mercilessness Of The Sea”.
